Decline in web loading time due to European GDPR

European_GDPR

The fast growth and international expansion of MedUX by Case on IT has consolidated the company as a reference at European level in the Quality of Experience measurement in fixed services. MedUX is currently retrieving fixed broadband Customer Experience information from more than 20 European telecom operators and ISPs. Through testing simulating user’s behavior, our solution, detected some alterations on the time it took to websites to completely load since the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) took effect last May 25. This legislation obliges companies to obtain European users’ agreement, so they can use their data. Moreover, companies must inform their users about the data they are using, how it is being treated, and what or who is responsible for them. Therefore, many websites, including some American newspapers such as The New York Times, USA Today and The Washington Post, have been forced to change how they collect users’ information and now they offer an EU GDPR Compliant Experience to be accessible from Europe. On the other hand, the GDPR law has restricted the entry of European users to numerous media in the US. Following this situation, MedUX has detected a significant decline in web loading time of some European sites, mainly due to a lower number of resources used, probably related to user tracking tools; which sometimes can slow down the loading process.

Since the application of the GDPR was announced, MedUX has observed that some European media have reduced the number of resources used in their websites by 20% - 30%. MedUX has proven to be capable of measuring and monitoring the State of Internet and the Quality of Service offered by telecom operators by offering insights and advanced analytics. Our clients can know how the service performs and build their strategy in order to anticipate and cover the needs of the market. If you are interested in knowing more contact info@caseonit.com
