Metrics as one of the most important business performance KPIs

The idea after creating most of the businesses worldwide consists in offering a service or a product that covers the needs of the customer. And how do we detect which are these needs and how to offer the best possible solution to address them? That is, precisely, the million dollar question.

In CASE on IT, for example, we want to help the mobile and fixed networks´ users, and our way to do it is by providing Network Operators, Digital Service Providers and Government Institutions a better knowledge of the quality of the service provided by them and giving them the opportunity to benchmark against their competitors.

Measuring and knowing how your user behaves (or your telecom networks, in our case) seems an obvious thing to do, but it is actually an extremely complicated task: do you really know what to measure and how to do it? Are your metrics the best at any moment, or should they adapt along the time? Did you define the best business-targeted KPIs? Are you able to measure effectively those KPIs? Are your tests and measurement devices cost effective? That is, are you spending so much to test the results that your costs are affecting the profitability of your company? Also, from the carrier point of view, McKinsey reports how analytics would allow them to make smarter decisions and adjust their networks to maintain the quality of service, as one of the enablers for a successful reinvention in the digital era.

Building a good network is important to have your customers satisfied but, through effective metrics ,companies could save costs, and improve the quality perception of the users, leading to more efficient company and a better overall performance.
