Belgium’s Mobile Experience Under the Microscope: MedUX Awards for Proximus (Q4 2025)
Based on the fourth quarter of 2025 data, Proximus Belgium has been recognized by MedUX as the Belgian operator offering the best mobile experience, the best mobile coverage, the fastest mobile network overall and the best network overall in the market.
These achievements also include the fastest 5G network, and recognise the best overall network experience, greatly combining performance indicators related to network responsiveness (accessibility), coverage, download speed, and data and OTT experience.
5G is a pillar of Europe’s Digital Decade, but the most meaningful question for customers, operators, and regulators is increasingly simple: what is the real mobile experience people get every day? That means consistent performance across the services that define digital life: streaming, social media, web browsing, gaming, and cloud usage.
In this article, we focus on the main results of the MedUX Mobile QoE Crowdsourcing Benchmark in Belgium (Q4 2025), published in the report “Status of Mobile Quality and Experience in Belgium” (MedUX Connectivity Observatory, February 2026), as well as on the results offered by our sister company Speedchecker (Q4 2025).
MedUX Mobile Experience Awards in Belgium
The mobile network benchmark in the fourth quarter of 2025 in Belgium shows a close competition for the "Best Experience", with Proximus, Telenet, and Orange all demonstrating high performance across key metrics.
Proximus delivers the best mobile experience in the country, outperforming its competitors with a Quality of Experience (QoE) Score of 3.98, and leading Accessibility (Network Responsiveness) and Data and OTT experience, specially in categories such as Gaming and Social Media experience. Telenet stands out as the leader for Web Browsing and Streaming experience, while Orange Belgium excels in Upload speeds.

Award Ceremony at MWC26
As part of our 2025-2026 Experience Awards programme, MedUX delivered these recognitions in person at MWC26, highlighting performance across speed, coverage, and real-world mobile experience. It included MedUX and SpeedChecker Awards (SpeedChecker is now part of MedUX)
“We are proud of this recognition from MedUX. It confirms the impact of our sustained network investments and our ambition, under our Amplify strategy, to strengthen our mobile leadership and extend 5G coverage nationwide. These awards highlight not only the quality and consistency of our network, but also the dedication of our teams who work every day to deliver a strong, reliable experience for customers across Belgium.” says Geert Standaert, Chief Technology Officer at Proximus Belgium.

MedUX Mobile Awards: Methodology Overview
The Best Mobile Experience award is granted to the operator that achieves the best overall score in the MedUX QoE Scorecard. This result is the product of an exhaustive analysis that weighs the operator's performance across all evaluated services (including streaming, browsing, gaming, etc.), including multiple Quality of Experience (QoE) and Quality of Service (QoS) indicators. The Best Overall Experience award is the highest recognition of the benchmark, reflecting the operator's consistency and excellence in providing daily mobile services.
Our Best Coverage Award is based on the Speedchecker methodology, utilizing billions of cellular measurements which, after spatial aggregation into 1 km² grids, determine an overall operator coverage score. The award for the Fastest Mobile Network is given to the network with the highest download speeds. Finally, the recognition for the Best Mobile Network is granted by obtaining the other two awards: the Fastest Mobile Network and the Best Coverage.
Measurement scope, testing and QoE benchmarking methodology
MedUX’s crowdsourcing approach combines active and passive measurements in real-life conditions, enabling a holistic view of mobile performance across networks, devices, and locations.
This Belgium study is built on:
- 260k+ devices
- 570k+ speed tests
- 7.3M+ QoE tests
Results are consolidated through the MedUX QoE Scorecard, turning technical KPIs into experience indicators across categories that reflect what users do every day (and what operators and regulators need to manage and benchmark).
Key findings: how Belgium’s mobile networks perform in practice
The awards recognize leadership in specific categories, but the true measure of performance lies in the actual service outcomes—how well the networks function when it matters most. We demonstrate this by presenting the results for speed performance alongside insights into the streaming experience.
Speeds: strong national results, with clear 5G top-end differentiation
Belgium shows strong downlink performance overall. In the benchmark, Proximus records the highest average download speed with 124.8 Mbps and leads 5G download speed with 184.0 Mbps average which gives Proximus the recognition of Fastest 5G network as well. 5G download performance is strong and widely distributed across Belgium, with most regions delivering speeds well above 100 Mbps.
Proximus dominates 5G download performance in Belgium, clearly ahead in both average and peak speeds. Proximus shows the highest Average DL speed (184.0 Mbps) and the strongest peak performance, reaching a P90 of 518.4 Mbps, significantly ahead of competitors.

Streaming experience: fast start times, high UHD share, and stability differences
Streaming performance is strong nationwide:
- A significant share of sessions delivered in Ultra HD (42–45%).
- Between 80% and 85% of sessions start within 2.5 seconds, indicating broadly smooth playback initiation nationwide.
At the same time, differences in playback stability (stalling behaviour) are precisely the type of “everyday QoE signal” that coverage maps and peak speed claims do not capture.
Proximus records the highest average video loading speed (102.0 Mbps) and also the lowest startup time (1,859 ms), positioning itself as the best overall performer for streaming experience. However, Telenet records the lowest stalling ratio (0.11%) and the lowest stalling time (11.38 ms), positioning itself as the most stable operator for uninterrupted video playback. Based on the latter, and a better streaming reliability, Telenet shows the best streaming experience overall in the market closely followed by Proximus.
What this means for mobile operators and policy makers
Belgium’s Q4 2025 results reinforce a key market reality. “Best mobile experience” is multi-dimensional. It’s shaped by how networks translate capacity into service outcomes (speed, responsiveness, stability, and time-to-content) across the applications users care about most.
That is precisely why the MedUX approach is structured around a transparent QoE Scorecard model with drill-down capability: it enables benchmarking, optimisation prioritisation, and evidence-based decision-making for stakeholders ranging from CxOs to engineering teams, while supporting independent reporting needs.
