Chile makes its network speeds visible: SUBTEL’s Regional Fixed Broadband Ranking (October 2025)
SUBTEL has released its October 2025 regional fixed-internet speed ranking, built from 767,924 measurements collected by probes from the Independent Technical Body (OTI). At MedUX, together with Microsystem, we’re the technical engine behind the OTI: we operate the measurement infrastructure and analytics that turn those tests into public, comparable results. This article focuses on SUBTEL’s report and on the citizen tool VMGChile, so anyone can verify whether their plan is truly delivering the speeds they pay for.

Key takeaways from SUBTEL’s October report
The report offers a snapshot of real fixed-network performance across all regions in October.
Top download averages: Los Ríos (789.6 Mbps), Ñuble (779.0 Mbps), and Coquimbo (763.1 Mbps).
Top upload averages: Aysén (862.8 Mbps), Los Ríos (716.7 Mbps), and Ñuble (703.5 Mbps). These figures come from continuous, independent measurements taken by OTI probes deployed nationwide. They are published to increase transparency, enable apples-to-apples comparisons between providers, and support citizens when they need to demonstrate the actual performance of their contracted service.

How MedUX helps
In 2022, SUBTEL awarded the OTI’s technical operation to our MedUX–Microsystem consortium. Since then, we’ve designed and run a country-wide probe network, maintained the test infrastructure, and standardized methodologies so every measurement is traceable and comparable. Each data point follows a rigorous quality-assurance and analytics pipeline until it becomes a public indicator, such as SUBTEL’s monthly ranking. Our priority is simple: turn data into trust—for households comparing providers, for operators competing on quality, and for the regulator overseeing the market with evidence.
Measure your fixed Internet with the official VMGChile tool
The same methodology behind the ranking is available at vmgchile.cl. For a valid result during the current pilot (“marcha blanca”), connect your computer via Ethernet to the router, close bandwidth-hungry apps or downloads, run the test, and save the report. That report helps you compare offers and also serves as objective evidence if you need to file a claim for non-compliance with your contracted service.

Impact on consumers and the telecom industry
- Greater transparency when comparing service quality across operators.
- Consumer empowerment with objective evidence to support claims.
- Smarter regulation, using precise information to guide infrastructure improvements.
- Stronger competition among operators on quality and experience.
Chile is setting the pace for more reliable Internet with guaranteed QoS
The system is operating under the “Marcha Blanca Ciudadana” phase, promoted by SUBTEL, which gives users access to the VMGChile app to measure their connection. With this initiative, Chile is moving toward an Internet that is more transparent, fair, and efficient for everyone.
