The Netherlands’ Mobile Network Experience in Q4 2025: 5G, Coverage and QoE by Operator
The Netherlands’ mobile experience in Q4 2025 confirms the country’s position as one of Europe’s most mature real-world mobile QoE markets. Very high 5G exposure, strong throughput, low latency and consistently fast service performance combine to create a benchmark where mobile network quality is no longer just about access, but about how effectively next-generation connectivity supports everyday digital life.
This article summarises the main results of the MedUX mobile QoE benchmark in the Netherlands for Q4 2025, based on the country report published in the MedUX Connectivity Observatory. The Observatory brings together market-by-market operator benchmarks, making it easier to compare mobile network experience across speed, latency, jitter, 5G performance, coverage and service-level indicators.

A highly mature 5G market
A first signal of the Netherlands’ maturity is the technology mix behind the benchmark. Observed 5G active-connection rates ranged from 86.6% to 92.5% across the operator set, while 4G represented only a limited residual share. This places the Dutch market among the most advanced environments in the benchmark from an effective 5G exposure perspective.

That maturity is also visible in speed results. Across the market, observed 5G download speeds ranged from 135.2 Mbps to 254.0 Mbps, while 5G upload speeds clustered between 33.9 Mbps and 42.8 Mbps. The Dutch market therefore combines strong next-generation reach with consistently high performance, creating a solid foundation for premium user experience across digital services.
Coverage is no longer just a basic availability metric in the Dutch market. In mature 5G environments such as the Netherlands, coverage quality and the consistency of next-generation access help explain why mobile experience remains strong across such a wide range of services.
The Netherlands shows a highly competitive operator benchmark
At operator level, the Netherlands combines strong throughput with excellent responsiveness. Odido recorded the highest cloud download speed at 203.5 Mbps and the highest observed 5G download speed at 254.0 Mbps. KPN led general responsiveness with the lowest network ping at 18.0 ms, the lowest packet loss at 0.04 and the fastest time to first byte at 342.2 ms. In uploads, KPN and Odido were effectively tied on overall cloud upload speed at 38.0 Mbps, with KPN slightly ahead in observed 5G upload performance at 42.8 Mbps.
This matters because in mature 5G markets, QoE leadership is often decided by fine margins. Peak speed is important, but so are latency, consistency and application responsiveness.
Strong service performance across browsing, social and streaming
The Netherlands also performed strongly at the service level. Odido delivered the fastest web browsing fully loaded time at 1286.9 ms and the fastest streaming startup time at 1636.3 ms. Vodafone led social media fully loaded performance at 1661.2 ms and achieved the fastest DNS lookup in web browsing at 26.2 ms. In gaming, KPN delivered the lowest gaming ping at 22.1 ms, while Odido posted the lowest gaming jitter at 8.5 ms.
Taken together, these results show a market where different operators lead in different categories, but where the overall user experience remains consistently strong. That is one of the defining traits of an advanced mobile ecosystem.
What the Netherlands’ Q4 2025 results tell us
The Netherlands stands out in Q4 2025 as one of the most balanced and advanced mobile markets in the benchmark. The combination of high 5G exposure, very strong download and upload performance, excellent responsiveness and competitive app-level results makes it a reference point for mobile network experience.
For operators, this means differentiation is increasingly happening at the level of execution quality rather than basic access alone. For regulators, analysts and market observers, the Dutch market reinforces the importance of moving beyond coverage claims and looking at how mobile connectivity is actually experienced across the services that matter most to end users.

Methodology note
This analysis is based on the MedUX Connectivity Observatory and on MedUX’s mobile QoE benchmarking approach, built on large-scale real-world measurements collected from end-user devices. The benchmark combines network performance and service-level indicators to evaluate how users actually experience mobile connectivity across operators, including speed, latency, browsing, social media, gaming and streaming behavior.
